Former US President Donald Trump has been arrested on criminal charges related to investigations concerning a $130,000 hush money payment made to porn star Stormy Daniels in 2016.
He was arrested on Tuesday, 4th March 2023, after his arrival to be arraigned at the Manhattan Criminal Courthouse.
The ex-president moved from his Trump Tower residence at about 13.00 local time (18.00 BST) in the convoy of a motorcade comprising about 10 vehicles.
Mr Trump was aware of his pending arrest, as he posted earlier about the development a few minutes before he got to the courthouse.
“Heading to Lower Manhattan, the Courthouse. Seems so SURREAL — WOW, they are going to ARREST ME. Can’t believe this is happening in America. MAGA!” he posted on Truth Social.
Mr Trump remained calm, with a serious face, as he made his way to the courtroom.
He was occasionally captured pausing to wave at his supporters who had gathered to protest outside the court.
