Boxing: Daniel Dubois fires trainer after knockout loss to Oleksandr Usyk

Former IBF Heavyweight Champion Daniel Dubois has fired his trainer Don Charles after almost a month after losing his fight against Oleksandr Usyk in July.

Dubois was knocked out by Usyk in the fifth round and failed to beat the count en route to losing the chance to become the undisputed World Heavyweight Champion.

Looking to the next chapter of his career after recording the third loss in his professional career, the 27-year-old Dubois split from Charles on Monday, August 18. Charles had been with Dubois since 2023.

British fighter Dubois has picked Tony Sims as his new trainer; Sims has extensive experience as a trainer for British fighters.

He has been Conor Benn’s trainer since 2016 and worked with Anthony Joshua from 2013 to 2015, recently retired super middleweight contender John Ryder and super featherweight fighter Joe Cordina.
