Ghana’s female national team, the Black Queens will play an international friendly match against Japan in July.
The team is expected to travel to Tokyo for the match scheduled for July 13, 2024, at the Karzawa Go-Go Curry Stadium.
The match is to prepare both teams for tournaments ahead, Japan is preparing for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, and Ghana is gearing up for the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
Although the date for WAFCON has not been announced, coach Nora Hauptle is thoroughly preparing the Black Queens. Ghana qualified for WAFCON for the first time since 2018 by defeating Namibia in the final qualifiers.
However, they narrowly missed Olympic Games qualification after losing to Zambia in the penultimate round.
Since taking over as coach in 2023, Hauptle has only lost two matches.
