The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has ordered a probe into a video depicting some immigration officers assaulting a woman at the Aflao border.
The order came after the MP for Ketu South, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, raised concerns over the conduct at the border on the floor of parliament.
In the video, two gun-wielding immigration officers appear to be in a scuffle with an unarmed woman.

Reacting to the video, the Speaker condemned the actions of the officers.
“What is really making it worse is, this is on the side of our ladies. It is completely uncivilised to use force against a lady. It’s not at all allowed, and so I’ll allow the investigations to go on, and let’s see what happens,” he said.
He, therefore, directed the Interior Minister to report to Parliament on the matter on July 29, 2024.
“I further direct that the Minister for Interior should report back to this house as to what action has been taken in this direction.”
He also stressed that civil servants have to serve the public and not use force.
“I need to emphasise that public servants are servants of the people. We volunteered to serve Ghanaians. Public servants are people who have volunteered to serve the public, and that service we must render. We are not by law and by concept to use force,” Mr Bagbin said.
The unnamed prison officers are currently being investigated by the police for beating up Franklin Agyekum on June 4, 2024.
An amateur video of the incident shows three men in prison uniforms and about six inmates dressed in their orange uniforms attacking a young man in a white shirt with sticks and other offensive objects.
According to Franklin Agyekum, the prison officers were transporting the inmates from Nkwanta to Ejura on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, when they nearly knocked him down with their tricycle.
He said he confronted one of the officers over his reckless driving, resulting in an argument.
The prison officer who got angered by Agyekum’s courage to challenge his driving pounced on him.
