Asantehene’s Anniversary Dinner Unpretentious

A spree of celebrations by and with Manhyia continues in the name of Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

As part of the Asantehene anniversary activities, guests were treated to a special dinner at Manhyia.

The merrymaking event was attended by high-profile personalities, including the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo.

Since this was part of his 25th-anniversary celebration, a great deal of time and effort was spent on pursuits to take the event to new heights.

Here, there was a board with a vast assortment of foods as a gesture of welcome and hospitality for travel-weary guests.

The night was set in a fashionable mood. Vegetables and salads were particularly prominent on the menu.

Exotic ingredients such as flower petals and buds, as well as rich condiments and sauces, were notable on tables.

Great attention was paid to the order and service of lengthy repasts. Though independent, client services were occasionally tempered by royal directives. The result was an improvement in table appointments. Each dish reflected a light and artistic touch.

Another charming item put on display was music. Though music is abstract, it is stimulating and nourishes the soul.

These are men and women not in the same league with those in necessity but have to work in the interest of the under-privileged.

Many have said that Asantehene had scored full marks in this regard. Some notable sound bites on the night included those of the US Ambassador to Ghana, and royals from Niger, all of whom commended Asantehene for his quality leadership.

Asantehene with a calm and gentle demeanour within a circle of great people. The President of the Republic of Ghana, the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana and his spouse, a former President John Agyekum Kufuor, the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, the Chairman of the Council of State, the Chief of Staff of Government, a former President of AngloGold Ashanti Mining Conglomerate, Sir Dr Sam Jonah, and a host of others formed the circle around the celebrant.

Asantehene is a man of a few words and yet his works are most far-reaching.
