Asante Kotoko will be without captain Richard Boadu in their upcoming Ghana Premier League match against Berekum Chelsea, due to suspension.
Defensive-minded Boadu has accumulated yellow cards causing him to be unavailable for the Chelsea game.
The Porcupine Warriors will be away to the Blues on Friday at Golden City Park for matchday 26 of the domestic top-flight.
Kotoko won the first-leg encounter against Chelsea 2-1 in Kumasi but the Golden City Park hasn’t been a favourable hunting ground for the Porcupines as they have failed to win there in two seasons.
But without their captain, it will undoubtedly be a challenging task pushing for that win.
Boadu has been a key player for Kotoko this season, despite the club’s inconsistent performance. His absence will be a significant blow to the team as they look to climb the Ghana Premier League standings.
Kotoko will have to rely on other players to fill the void left by Boadu’s suspension. The team will need a strong performance to secure a victory against Chelsea and keep their hopes of a higher finish alive.
It remains to be seen who will take Boadu’s place in the starting lineup, but the team will undoubtedly be looking for a leader to step up and guide them to victory.
Berekum Chelsea is 8th on the league table with 34 points whiles Asante Kotoko occupies the 4th spot, accumulating 39 points after 25 matches.
