Suspected robbers stormed the Sokoban Krofrom Palace in the Ashanti Region and bolted with the revered traditional “black stool” of the town and other valuable items.
According to members of the Adumasa family, the attack occurred while the newly installed chief and other family elders were at the Manhyia Palace to swear the oath of allegiance.
By the time they returned, the palace had been ransacked, and the sacred black stool was missing.
In Akan culture, the black stool is a powerful symbol of authority, leadership, and spirituality, representing the rich history and values of the royal family.
Its loss is considered a grave matter.
Eyewitnesses reported that six heavily built men, armed with machetes and guns, forcefully entered the palace by breaking down the metal gate.
“They vandalized the entire palace, smashing doors and looting valuables. Our elders who tried to resist were beaten mercilessly, while we, the women, could only watch in distress,” a distraught family member recounted.
The shocking incident has left the family in fear, prompting urgent calls for security intervention.
Police have since visited the scene and launched an investigation into the robbery.
