Kwaku Ansah-Asare, a former Director of the Ghana School of Law is arguing that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo should resign from office for the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to take over.

His argument is that, President Akufo-Addo has failed to clamp down on illegal mining popularly referred to as galamsey.

He is basing his argument on President Akufo-Addo’s pledge in 2017 to stop galamsey.

In a television interview with TV3, Ansah-Asare said President Akufo-Addo “promised to put his presidency on th line, but he hasn’t delivered and hasn’t even apologized for failing.”

To him, with a few weeks to the end of his tenure, President Akufo-Addo should by now have handed over to his Vice since anything he commits to within his remaining weeks at the presidency would not be credible.
