Should Ghana qualify for the 2023 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament, the Black Stars will know their opponents for the group stage in October.
In a communique from the Ghana Football Association (GFA), it has indicated that the draw for the group stage of the 2023 AFCON will be held in Ivory Coast on October 12.
“The official Draw of the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations Côte d’Ivoire 2023 will be conducted on Thursday, October 12, 2023 according to the Executive Committee of the Confederation of African Football.
“The twenty-four qualified teams including host Cote D’Ivoire will know their path in the biennial tournament.
“With two matches to end the qualifiers, Champions Senegal, Ghana, Morocco, Egypt, Cameroon, Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Algeria, Mali and Tunisia are all gunning for slots in the next edition of the tournament,” parts of the GFA communique said.
Ghana next month will face off with Madagascar in the last but one match of the qualifiers for the 2023 AFCON.
A win could seal the qualification for the Black Stars.
Meanwhile, the 2023 AFCON tournament is scheduled for Cote D’Ivoire from Saturday, January 13 to Sunday, February 11, 2024.
