A Shift In The Top Brass Of The Ghana Armed Forces

President Nana Akufo Addo has made changes to the leadership of the Ghana Armed Forces. The new appointments take effect from 1st of February, 2024.

The Chief of Army Staff, Major-General Thomas Oppong-Peprah, takes over from the retiring Vice Admiral Seth Amoama as Chief of Defence Staff.

Major-General Bismarck Kwasi Onwona will now be the Chief of Army Staff.

The Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Issah Adams Yakubu, and the Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshall Frederick Kwasi Asare Bekoe remain in their positions.

A statement issued by the Presidency and signed by the Director of Communications, Mr Eugene Arhin, states that the President made the appointments in consultation with the Council of State in line with constitutional requirements.

It said the President thanked Vice Admiral Seth Amoama for his patriotism and great service to the nation during his time in the Ghana Armed Forces.
