A section of the Sofoline Interchange in Kumasi will be closed to traffic from Wednesday, September 3, to Friday, September 19, 2025, as engineers begin much-needed repair work.
The Department of Urban Roads in the Ashanti Region has announced that the ramp connecting the Sofoline Terminal to the Santasi Roundabout and Patasi will be inaccessible during this period.
The closure is part of efforts to fix an expansion joint on the approach slab, which officials say is necessary to maintain the safety and durability of the interchange.
Commuters who rely on this stretch are being advised to plan and use the alternative routes that will be clearly marked with directional signs.
The Department has assured the public that traffic management systems will be in place to reduce delays and maintain order.
Na-em Iddrisu, the Regional Director of Urban Roads, acknowledged the inconvenience this may cause but stressed the importance of the repair work.
“We are committed to completing this as quickly and efficiently as possible. We understand the disruption this may bring and appreciate the patience of all road users,” he said.
Drivers are encouraged to stay alert and follow all traffic instructions to ensure everyone’s safety during the two-week maintenance period.
