A quiet afternoon turned tragic at Shama Junction when Comfort Baidoo, a 60-year-old woman, lost her life in a devastating accident involving a speeding Honda Civic.

Comfort had just finished visiting her sister and was walking along the pedestrian path when the unregistered vehicle, reportedly transporting blood for a sick patient, attempted to bypass traffic by switching lanes.

Eyewitnesses said the car, travelling from Daboase toward Inchaban, collided with a taxi from Shama and spun out of control.

In a horrifying moment, the vehicle veered off the road and onto the walkway, striking Comfort and dragging her into a nearby kenkey stand.

Her left leg was crushed beneath the car, and bystanders rushed to lift the vehicle off her. She was quickly taken to the VRA Hospital, but despite their efforts, she was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

One witness, still shaken, said, “It all happened so fast. She was just walking, and the next moment, the car had dragged her into the kenkey joint. We tried everything to save her”.
