Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has underscored the pivotal role the 2025 Budget and Policy Statement will play in restoring stability to Ghana’s struggling economy.

Speaking during a youth engagement session on X Spaces hosted by influencer KalyJay, Dr. Forson acknowledged the country’s ongoing financial challenges and emphasised that bold, strategic interventions are urgently needed.

“Let’s not deceive ourselves; Ghana is not out of the woods yet. Our economy is still in distress, and our top priority must be restoring the stability we deserve,” he said.

Dr. Forson outlined the government’s plan to implement sound economic policies aimed at curbing inflation, stabilising the exchange rate, and creating a more predictable economic environment.

“We intend to establish a framework that ensures a stable exchange rate, low inflation, and a resilient economy,” he explained.

He also emphasised the importance of reducing government borrowing to free up financial resources for private sector growth.

“It is critical for the government to cut unnecessary spending and reduce its borrowing appetite. This will create more room for the private sector to thrive and drive economic expansion,” he added.

Following a recent visit to traders in Accra’s Central Business District, Dr. Forson assured the public, especially the youth, that such engagements are meaningful and will inform the final budget presentation, scheduled for March 11.

“I take the views of Ghanaians seriously. I’m not here for show—I’m here to listen and make sure your voices shape our policies. Ignore the propaganda,” he affirmed.
