In the wake of a challenging start to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, Ghana’s star striker, Jordan Ayew, is determined to shift the narrative.
Despite a disheartening 2-1 defeat to the Blue Sharks on January 14, Ayew remains resolute, asserting that the upcoming clash against Egypt on Thursday is a crucial opportunity to revive their campaign.
With the defeat against the Blue Sharks denting their initial optimism, Ayew emphasizes that conquering Egypt is now the Black Stars’ topmost priority.
In a pre-match press conference on Wednesday Ayew stated that they have put themselves in a difficult position.
“Tomorrow is going to be a tough game and the boys are ready. We put ourselves in a difficult position and well fight to put in a better performance,” he said.
“I am sure tomorrow we will all have something to smile about after the game,” he added.
Ghana will play the Pharaohs on Thursday at the Stade Felix Houphouet-Boigny. The crucial encounter will kick off at 20:00 GMT.
