He secures the nation’s first medal in the track and field events after Benjamin Azamati missed out on a medal in the 100m final, a few days ago.

The men’s 4×100 meter relay team was earlier on Saturday, August 6, disqualified from the final for failing to inform officials about a change of athlete one hour before their semi-final race.

Amoah also becomes the first African to win a medal in the 200m event since 2006 and the first Ghanaian to win a medal in 200m since George Daniels won the silver at the 1974 Commonwealth Games in Christchurch, New Zealand.
