20-Year-Old Car washer jailed 18 months for unlawful entry and stealing

A Circuit Court at Dormaa-Ahenkro in Bono Region has sentenced A 20-year-old car washer, Elvis Yeboah, to 18 months in prison for unlawful entry and stealing.

Elvis admitted to the two offenses of stealing a car battery, a stabilizer, a woofer, and speakers worth GHS1,040.00.

Police Inspector Emmanuel Asare, who led the prosecution, informed the court, which was presided over by Mr Osei Kofi Amoako, that the defendant, Hayford Asante, is also a resident of Dormaa-Ahenkro and rides a tricycle.

He said that on Sunday, May 14 of this year, at around 1500 hours, the complainant came home from church and discovered Elvis Yeboah inside his room; when the complainant asked Elvis what he was doing there, the prisoner responded that he was looking for his friend.

According to Police Inspector Asare, the complainant observed the convict packing the aforementioned items into a bag that belonged to him (the complainant).

After a struggle between the two, the complainant overpowered the convict, arrested and brought him and the items as exhibits to the Police Station in Dormaa-Ahenkro.

The prosecutor said the convict was re-arrested and detained for investigation, adding that during interrogation convict admitted having entered the room but denied having stolen the items.

Police Inspector Asare said after investigations, the convict was charged with the offenses and brought before Court.
