Five people, including a radio presenter, were shot in the Binduri District of the Upper East Region when unidentified assailants attacked their home on Sunday, October 26, 2025.
Three of the victims, one of whom was a five-year-old child, died on the spot, while two others were injured and taken to the hospital. Among the wounded is George Bukari, the manager of Maxx Empire Radio and TV, located in Binduri.
Residents believe that the attack is connected to the ongoing Bawku conflict, which has resulted in numerous fatalities and the displacement of many families since it began in November 2021.
In another incident, a mentally ill man was reportedly killed by military personnel in Daduri, a suburb of Bawku, which has further escalated tensions in the region. Security officials have not yet provided comments regarding either incident.
This comes after four people, including two women, were reportedly fatally shot by unidentified gunmen in Bawku within the last 24 hours.
The most recent incident occurred at approximately 6 a.m. on Saturday, October 25, along the Atuba road near Binduri.
On Friday morning, a woman was reportedly shot after she stepped out to meet a colleague.
Later that evening, around 7 p.m., a man known as Salam was killed by two armed men on a motorcycle at a drinking establishment in Garu.
At around 11 p.m. the same day, another woman was also murdered in Binduri.
The latest attack transpired at dawn on Saturday, when gunmen ambushed and killed a man identified only as Azimbe.
Reports suggest that the deceased was the son of the late Kusasi chief, who was killed in Asawasi, Kumasi, in July of this year.
These killings have further escalated tensions in the already unstable region.
