At the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) National Delegates Conference in Accra, 2024 presidential candidate Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia made a heartfelt appeal to members of the party to rise above tribal and religious divisions.

Speaking to a packed audience at the University of Ghana Stadium on Saturday, July 19, Dr. Bawumia addressed the need for healing and togetherness in the wake of the party’s loss in the recent general elections.

He warned that any form of tribalism or religious intolerance could seriously undermine the party’s future.

“These divisions, wherever they come from, are a real threat. They have no place in our party,” Dr. Bawumia said, urging supporters to stay focused on unity and shared goals.

He reflected on the importance of learning from past mistakes and rebuilding trust among Ghanaians. He believes only by demonstrating sincerity and discipline can the party earn back the confidence of voters.

“We must ensure Ghanaians genuinely see the lessons we have learned and are willing to apply the next time round,” he noted. “An army that wants to win a battle must exercise discipline within its ranks.”

The conference gathered party leaders, grassroots members, and national delegates to assess the NPP’s challenges and lay the groundwork for a stronger comeback.
