Supreme Court puts Kpandai rerun on hold

In a significant development, the Supreme Court has instructed the Electoral Commission (EC) to halt all proceedings and activities related to the Kpandai parliamentary rerun, pending the final resolution of a case currently before the court.

This directive effectively suspends the EC’s preparations for the rerun election until the legal matters concerning the issue are completely resolved.

When the case was heard on Tuesday, the apex court postponed proceedings to January 13, 2026, to allow for further examination of the issues presented by the parties involved.

The Kpandai rerun has been the focus of legal disputes following disagreements that arose from the parliamentary election, leading to the Supreme Court’s intervention.

Until the court issues its final ruling, the EC is prohibited from taking any actions toward organising or conducting the rerun in the constituency initially scheduled for December 30, 2025.
