Seven arrested in Cape Coast drug crackdown

The Central Regional Police Command has arrested seven people in a focused operation to curb the sale and use of narcotic drugs in the Cape Coast Metropolis.

The intelligence-led exercise was carried out on Saturday, December 13, 2025, targeting known drug bases and locations identified as hotspots for drug peddling and consumption.

The suspects arrested are Robert Kobbina, Abu Issifu, Janet Mensah, Emmanuel Quarshie, Osei Boateng, Animful Emmanuel, and Charity Nkrumah.

Police first raided a known drug base at Effutu, where Robert Kobbina and Abu Issifu were arrested. A search conducted on Kobbina led to the recovery of various suspected narcotic substances and related items, including sachets and tablets of timaking, Tdrona, royal fart, dried leaves believed to be Indian hemp, as well as tobacco products, lighters, and assorted cigarette packs.

The operation was later extended to Poly Amisano and Nkanfoa, areas also identified as active drug peddling zones.

At Poly Amisano, officers arrested Janet Mensah, Emmanuel Quarshie, Osei Boateng, Animful Emmanuel, and Charity Nkrumah.

A search at a drinking spot operated by Janet Mensah uncovered large quantities of cigarettes, tobacco products, lighters, and three jackpot gaming machines.

An additional four jackpot machines were seized during the operation at Nkanfoa.

All seven suspects are currently in police custody assisting with investigations. The Central Regional Police Command says those found responsible will be put before the court, as it continues efforts to crack down on narcotic-related activities in the metropolis.
