Peace has been restored in Sampa, a town in the Bono Region of Ghana, following violent disturbances related to chieftaincy that erupted on September 10, 2025, according to a police statement.
The clashes resulted in one fatality and several injuries, prompting the immediate intervention of the Ghana Police Service.
The police, in a statement released on Wednesday, said the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) quickly dispatched reinforcement teams to the area to address the violence and restore stability.
The unrest, which originated from local chieftaincy disputes, had created fear and tension among residents.
“The police have since restored calm, beefed up security and intensified patrols within Sampa and surrounding communities,” the statement read.
Authorities are currently focused on maintaining peace and preventing further escalation of the conflict.
The names of the deceased or injured have not been released at this time, and investigations into the incident are ongoing.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Police Service has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring safety and order, particularly in areas affected by traditional leadership disputes, which have historically been flashpoints for unrest in various parts of the country.
