The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has announced that the beginning of the Third Meeting of the First Session of the Ninth Parliament of the Fourth Republic has been postponed.
In an official announcement made on Monday, October 6, 2025, the Speaker clarified that the meeting, which was originally set to reconvene on October 14 following a notice released on September 29, 2025, has been delayed until further notice due to “circumstances beyond my control”.
The statement, issued from the Office of the Speaker of Parliament in Accra, did not specify the reasons for the delay but mentioned that a new date would be provided in the future.
“Pursuant to the notice to summon Parliament dated September 29, 2025, I, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, Speaker of Parliament, hereby give notice that the commencement of the Third Meeting of the First Session of the Ninth Parliament of the Fourth Republic is deferred until further notice due to circumstances beyond my control,” the Speaker stated.
This postponement indicates that parliamentary activities, which were anticipated to resume this month following a break, will remain suspended until a new date is announced.
This announcement comes at a time when the House was expected to address significant legislative and policy issues, including the presentation of the 2026 Budget Statement and Economic Policy.
