Patricia Asiedua Asiamah, popularly known as Nana Agradaa, has been convicted by the Circuit Court in Accra for defrauding the public through misleading advertisements.

In a 2022 broadcast, Agradaa, popularly known across Ghana for her spiritual transformation from chief priestess to evangelist, made dramatic claims, stating she could spiritually multiply money for anyone who contributed to her ‘Sika Gari’ scheme.

Enticed by this promise, many unsuspecting Ghanaians handed over large sums, believing they’d receive double in return.

She was subsequently arrested and charged with one count of charlatanic advertisement contrary to section 137(1) of the Criminal and Other Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29) and six counts of defrauding by false pretences contrary to section 131(1) of the same Act.

After a three-year legal battle, the court ruled on Thursday, July 3, 2025, that these claims amounted to deception and false pretence.

Following her conviction, Nana Agradaa was taken to the hospital for a pregnancy test, a routine step that informs the court’s sentencing process.

The outcome of that test and the court’s final directives will determine the next chapter of this high-profile case.

Agradaa’s story has drawn widespread attention not only for its spiritual angle but also for the vulnerability of those she targeted, many of whom are ordinary citizens seeking hope in tough times.
