Actress Nana Ama McBrown has disclosed that she has spent close to GHC500,000 on medical treatment in recent months as part of her recovery from a car accident she was involved in more than a decade ago.
Speaking in an interview, McBrown said the amount covers treatment on her arm from May to date, describing the process as financially demanding, physically painful and emotionally stressful.
“If I should tell you the money I’ve spent on this hand, it’s almost GHC500,000 from May till now. And remember, it’s not just the money—the pain, the stress, the emotional trauma. You need to go through it yourself because you can’t rely on people,” she said.
The actress explained that her recovery involved intensive physiotherapy, including early morning sessions at the 37 Military Hospital, followed by continued treatment at home.
She said she was required to work on her arm every morning and evening using a stimulation machine she had been trained to operate by medical professionals.
McBrown was involved in a car accident in January 2013 and revealed that her treatment journey has included a total of five surgeries.
“This was my fifth and final surgery,” she said, adding that she is thankful she no longer experiences pain.
She added that while support from family and friends is important, recovery ultimately becomes a personal process.
