The La Nkwantanang-Madina Municipal Assembly has announced a major drop in crime across the municipality during the first three quarters of 2025.

The improvement, according to the Assembly, results from intensified police operations and stronger community vigilance.

Speaking at a community accountability durbar, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Ibrahim Fusseini Faila, said the Assembly, working closely with the police and other security agencies, has made significant progress in making Madina safer for residents and businesses.

“Madina is no longer a hideout for criminals. Through targeted raids and intelligence-led operations, the police have successfully clamped down on criminal activities across the municipality,” Mr. Faila stated.

He commended the collaboration between the Assembly, traditional leaders, and community members, noting that their joint efforts have contributed to the sharp decline in crime.

Despite the progress, the MCE called for the transfer of some police officers who have served at the Madina Police Station for long periods.

He explained that prolonged postings can sometimes lead to overfamiliarity with local elements, which may affect the effectiveness of law enforcement.

“We value the dedication of our police officers, but periodic transfers are necessary to bring in fresh perspectives and renewed commitment,” he emphasized.

Mr. Faila urged the Ghana Police Service to consider his request as part of broader efforts to strengthen security and ensure discipline among officers in the area.

Touching on sanitation, the MCE reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to strictly enforcing sanitation by-laws across communities within La Nkwantanang-Madina.

He said the Assembly has intensified monitoring and will prosecute individuals and businesses that violate sanitation regulations.

“Cleanliness is a shared responsibility. The Assembly will continue to enforce sanitation by-laws with renewed discipline to keep Madina clean and healthy,” he said.

The durbar formed part of the Assembly’s community engagement and accountability programme, aimed at updating residents on ongoing projects, interventions, and future plans.
