The ongoing debate over DStv’s pricing in Ghana has taken a political turn, with Kpandai MP Mathew Nyindam publicly criticising Information Minister Sam George for his role in the matter.

Speaking in an interview, the Ranking Member of Parliament’s Information and Communications Committee expressed concern over the minister’s approach.

He described Sam George’s posture as arrogant and said it does not reflect the dignity of the presidency.

“We think that his communications and actions do not reflect the presidency. It’s non-Ghanaian on his part. It doesn’t show maturity,” Mr Nyindam said.

His remarks came shortly after DStv’s management in Ghana released a statement addressing recent developments in their pricing structure.

The issue has sparked widespread public debate, with many calling for clarity and fairness in how subscription fees are determined.

Mr Nyindam went further to suggest that President John Dramani Mahama should consider removing Sam George from office if his conduct continues. He argued that the minister’s behaviour is tarnishing the reputation of the communications ministry.

“If he wants to keep his position, then he should rethink again. Otherwise, His Excellency should re-look at him because he is disgracing the ministry,” he added.

As the DStv saga unfolds, stakeholders and citizens alike are watching closely, hoping for a resolution that prioritises transparency and consumer protection.
