A Senior High School Headmistress has fallen victim to a fraudulent scheme, losing Gh¢560,000 to a woman who posed as someone capable of securing travel visas and auctioned vehicles.
The suspect, 38-year-old Priscilla Koduah, popularly known as Maame Kraa, is alleged to have convinced the educationist to part with the money with the promise of helping her acquire three vehicles and a visa.
However, the promises never materialised, leaving the headmistress both financially drained and emotionally distressed.
Priscilla is reported to have pulled similar tricks on other unsuspecting individuals.
Police investigations suggest she may have defrauded people of almost Gh¢4 million in total.
She allegedly carried out the acts with the help of an accomplice, Nana Yaw Stocks, who posed as a national security operative and even claimed to be her uncle.
This partnership, according to investigators, gave them credibility and allowed them to gain the trust of their victims with ease.
Law enforcement sources confirmed that Priscilla has been arrested and is currently in police custody as investigations continue.
One police officer involved in the case said, “Fraudsters often prey on trust, and this case shows the importance of verifying before committing to any deal, no matter how genuine it may seem”.
