A ghastly accident on the Obuasi–Dunkwa highway has resulted in one death and left several others injured.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, September 9, near Sanso Junction.
The accident occurred when a Kia truck (registration AS 1434-17), driven by 31-year-old Yahaya Abdul Samed, unexpectedly swerved into oncoming traffic and collided with a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter bus (registration AS 3789-21), operated by 32-year-old Ibrahim Yusif.
The bus was en route from Obuasi to Dunkwa, carrying 23 passengers at the time.
The collision caused numerous injuries, prompting immediate transportation of the victims to Obuasi Government Hospital and the AGA Health Foundation Hospital for urgent care.
Tragically, 62-year-old Mary Boatemaa, a passenger on the Sprinter bus, lost her life at the scene. Her remains have been taken to the mortuary at Obuasi Government Hospital.
Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding this unfortunate accident.
