The Elections Committee of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has strongly cautioned members to ignore a fake voters’ list currently circulating on social media ahead of the Association’s National and Regional Elections scheduled for Monday, June 30, 2025.
In a statement issued on Sunday, June 29, the Committee condemned the circulation of the false list, describing it as a calculated attempt to mislead members and erode trust in the electoral process.
“The integrity of the elections is paramount,” the Committee stated, urging members to rely only on official communications from the GJA regarding the voter register and other electoral matters.
“The Committee urges all members to ignore this mischievous fabrication and rely solely on the official voters’ register, which has been duly signed by both the GJA General Secretary and Treasurer,” the statement read.
Members who are unsure of their inclusion on the voters’ register have been encouraged to verify their status by visiting the official GJA website or directly contacting the Elections Committee.
The Committee also announced that the Ghana Police Service will be present at all regional voting centres to maintain peace and order during the election.
“In a related development, the Committee has served notice that the Ghana Police Service will be on standby across all regional voting centres. Any individual or group that attempts to cause confusion will be promptly escorted out of the premises,” it cautioned.
Additionally, the Committee reminded members that valid identification will be required to cast a vote. Acceptable forms of ID include the Ghanaian Passport, Voter’s ID, and Ghana Card.
“Let us all work together to ensure a peaceful and credible election. May the best candidates win – and may the GJA be the ultimate winner,” the statement concluded.
