A disagreement over a local football team has ended in tragedy at Gomoa Osamkrom in the Central Region, where a 42-year-old driver, David Mensah, popularly known as Pepper Soup, was allegedly killed by a close friend.

The incident is said to have occurred when the deceased visited the home of the suspect, Michael Boye, also known as Ato, which doubles as a small drinking spot in the community.

What began as a casual meeting between friends reportedly turned tense after a heated argument broke out about the leadership of a local football team in Osamkrom.

According to information gathered, the two men disagreed over whether the founder of the team was still managing its affairs.

While Pepper Soup maintained that the founder remained in charge, Ato strongly disagreed, leading to a verbal exchange that drew attention from people nearby.

As tensions rose, the deceased reportedly decided to leave the premises to avoid further confrontation. However, as he turned his back to walk away, Ato is alleged to have picked up a log and struck him.

The blow proved fatal, and Pepper Soup died shortly after the attack, leaving residents of the area shocked and saddened.

Police were alerted to the incident and quickly moved in to begin investigations.

While the suspect is currently on the run, his mother and some relatives have been arrested to assist with investigations.
