Five killed in tragic head-on crash on Cape Coast–Takoradi highway

Five people have lost their lives following a tragic head-on collision between a Toyota Hiace bus and a DAF truck on Saturday, December 20, at Ayensudo Meyinda along the Cape Coast–Takoradi Highway.

The exact cause of the accident is yet to be determined.

Both vehicles, the truck with registration number GG 3227-25 and the bus registered GW 9373-22 were severely damaged in the crash.

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) responded promptly, deploying a rescue team from the Komenda Fire Station to the scene.

Firefighters carefully worked to retrieve the bodies of the five victims who were trapped inside the Hiace bus, while collaborating with other emergency agencies to manage the situation.

After the rescue operation, the team cleared debris from the road to restore traffic flow and ensure the safety of other road users.

Investigations into the cause of the accident are ongoing. The swift and coordinated response by the GNFS reflects its continued commitment to public safety and effective emergency response.
