Fisherman arrested for defiling 13-year-old girl in Apam

The Central Regional Police Command has arrested a 49-year-old fisherman, Samuel Armah, also known as Kofi Nyan, for allegedly defiling a 13-year-old girl at Mumford, a fishing community near Apam.

The arrest follows a viral video showing the suspect committing the act.

Police said that on October 17, 2025, the Apam District Command received information that the incident had occurred the previous day.

Officers, with support from the Mumford Police Task Force, quickly moved to the area and detained the suspect.

Investigations indicate that Armah lured the girl into a ghetto at Mumford, where the assault took place.

The victim was taken to St. Luke Catholic Hospital for examination and treatment.

The case was referred to the Central Regional Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU).

During questioning, the suspect admitted to the offence and was subsequently detained.

He was arraigned in court on October 23, 2025, to face prosecution.

Police have also identified four accomplices, Agoogo, Edina, Kwesi Abbam, and Agya Ankoto, who remain at large.

Authorities are appealing to residents of Mumford and surrounding communities to assist in locating them.
