A 16-year-old boy from Efiakuma in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis has gone missing after leaving behind a deeply emotional letter saying he no longer feels loved by his parents.
The incident happened on Sunday while the family was attending church. According to his mother, known as Mama, her son had declined to accompany them to church that morning.
When they returned, he was gone, and a handwritten letter was waiting in his place.
In the note, the teenager wrote, “You don’t love me, I cannot stay with you anymore”. He also told his parents not to look for him and assured them he was not lost.
Speaking to reporters, the boy’s mother said the family is heartbroken and is doing everything possible to find him.
“He was supposed to go with us to church, but he refused. We went to church and came back to meet his absence. He left a note indicating we don’t love him, but we do love him so much. We are asking the public to help us look for him. We want him to return home,” she said.
The family has since reported the incident to the police and shared a copy of the letter with the public.
The boy, who signed off as “Emma,” wrote that he was leaving for good and asked his parents not to search for him. He expressed appreciation for what they had done but believed they did not truly care for him.
Police have begun investigations and are urging anyone with information about his whereabouts to come forward. The family remains hopeful for his safe return.
