The final funeral rites for Ghanaian highlife icon Charles Kwadwo Fosu, known to many as Daddy Lumba, will now take place on December 13, 2025, following a decision by the Manhyia Palace.

Originally scheduled for December 6 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi, the date was changed after a family meeting held at the Otumfuo Saamanhene Palace on November 10.

During the gathering, the late musician’s sister, Ernestina Akosua Brempomaa, raised concerns about the circumstances surrounding her brother’s death and requested a postmortem.

“I’ve heard too many conflicting stories about how my brother died,” Akosua Brempomaa said. “I believe we need clarity before we lay him to rest.”

She also expressed frustration over being excluded from key funeral arrangements, including the formation of the funeral committee.

Despite her appeal, the traditional council chiefs overseeing the meeting ruled that the police would handle the postmortem request.

They urged the family to remain united and confirmed December 13 as the new date for the final rites, stressing the importance of honouring Daddy Lumba with dignity.

The rescheduled ceremony is expected to draw thousands of fans and dignitaries, as the nation prepares to bid farewell to one of its most beloved musical legends.
