A circuit court in Sefwi Bodi, Western North Region, has remanded a man suspected of carrying out a series of violent robberies in parts of the Juaboso District.
The suspect, Victor Biney, popularly known as Abeiku, was ordered into custody on Thursday, December 18, 2025, after appearing in court over his alleged involvement in a robbery attack on miners at Sefwi Antobia.
Presiding judge, His Honour Frank Asiedu Nimako, rejected a bail application filed by the defence, resulting in Biney’s continued detention.
He is expected to reappear before the court on January 15, 2026.
Biney, who is widely known in Juaboso and neighbouring communities, is said to portray himself as a spiritualist. According to police, he claims to offer protective charms and so-called “black powers” to individuals seeking protection from gunshots and cutlass attacks.
Law enforcement sources indicate that his arrest followed weeks of investigations into a violent robbery that occurred at a mining site in Sefwi Antobia.
Further police inquiries reportedly linked him to multiple robbery incidents across the Juaboso area.
Among the cases under investigation is a daylight robbery at a wholesale shop, during which one person was shot and killed and significant sums of money were allegedly taken.
In addition to the current case, the suspect is said to be facing a separate criminal matter before the Bibiani Circuit Court, where judgment is expected to be delivered on December 22, 2025.
The Juaboso District Police Command has assured residents that investigations remain ongoing, with efforts underway to track down and arrest other individuals believed to be connected to the suspected robbery syndicate.
