Some students of the Christian Methodist Senior High School (SHS) at Weija assaulted a colleague for allegedly stealing a mobile phone.
On Thursday, February 27, a group of about 30 students brutally attacked the victim in a ‘jungle justice’ style near New Aplaku in the Ga South Municipality of the Greater Accra Region.
He was able to break free from their grip and fled into a nearby shop to escape their onslaught.
The angry students still pursued him into the shop, vandalized properties and stabbed a bystander who attempted to help in the eye.
Other members of the community then shielded the brutalised student and fought off the angry students.
However, the angry students returned on Friday, February 28, with weapons to launch another attack on the community members.
In a viral video, the brutalised student is seen narrating the incident to his rescuers.
He also insisted he did not steal the phone.
Wearing a blood-stained school uniform, his face was swollen, and his left eye was almost shut from the attack.
Meanwhile, a joint military and police team has taken over the school after some community members began mobilizing for retaliation.
Four students have been arrested, and the police have launched investigations into the incident.
