Rescue teams have recovered the remains of all eight individuals who tragically lost their lives in a military helicopter crash in the Dampia Range Forest Reserve near Brofoyedru Sikaman in the Adansi Asokwa Municipality of the Ashanti Region.

The helicopter, which went down under yet-to-be-determined circumstances on Wednesday morning, was transporting a delegation of government officials heading to an official programme.

Authorities confirmed that among the deceased were Environment Minister Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed and Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, a senior official at the Defence Ministry.

Also on board were Muniru Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator; Samuel Aboagye, a former Member of Parliament; and Samuel Sarpong, a Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress.

The aircraft’s crew, Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Mane-Twum Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah, also perished in the crash.

At the crash site, a visibly shaken Deputy Security Coordinator for the Ashanti Region stated, “What you saw a while ago in those sacks are the remains of our senior officers who were involved in the crash this morning”.

The cause of the crash is under investigation, and security officials have cordoned off the area to ensure the site is preserved for further examination.

Meanwhile, families, colleagues, and the entire nation are mourning the loss of these prominent figures who served in various capacities.
