Grief hung heavy at the State Burial on August 15, but few moments were as soul-stirring as the tribute from the wife of Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, a message of love, loss, and faith that brought many to tears.

Her words painted a vivid picture of a man whose life was defined by quiet strength, deep devotion, and unwavering integrity, a husband, father, and officer whose memory now lives on in the hearts he touched.

She painted a heartfelt portrait of her husband as a man of rare character as a brilliant, humble, God-fearing, and deeply loving.

His integrity and simplicity, she said, left a lasting mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.

Though his duties often kept them physically apart, she described a relationship held strong through constant communication, shared prayers, and unwavering devotion.

Earlier this year, Anala had travelled to the United Kingdom to support her as they welcomed their first child, a “precious blessing.”

The couple had planned the child’s christening for October, looking forward to celebrating as a family.

In a poignant revelation, she shared that before returning to Ghana, her husband had confided in his mother about a troubling dream.

The family responded with fervent prayer for his safety.

On the morning of the crash, an unexplained sense of unease kept them awake in prayer.

The messages of love and blessings they sent to him that day went unanswered. Hours later, the devastating news confirmed their worst fears.

“Though our hearts are broken beyond words, we surrender to God’s will, trusting that he knows best.” She expressed hope that the love they shared and the memories they made would remain a source of strength and comfort,” her message read.

She ended her tribute with a prayer for divine guidance over their newborn child and strength for all the families affected by the tragedy.

“Peter, our hero, our light,” her message concluded, “you fought the good fight. You finished your race. You kept the faith. Until we meet again in God’s glory.”
