Another man fatally shot in Asawase

Story By: Salome Sakyi

Tension is rising in the Asawase community following the shooting death of an unidentified man, just days after the assassination of Kusasi Chief Abdul-Malik Azenbe in the same area.

According to eyewitnesses, the victim was attacked by two individuals riding a motorbike.

The assailants opened fire before fleeing the scene. Residents quickly alerted authorities, prompting a swift response from both police and military units.

The area has since been cordoned off while investigators gather evidence.

This shooting comes less than a week after the July 22 killing of Chief Azenbe, who was gunned down at his residence near the Asawase F-line community center.

One of the attackers was reportedly armed with an AK-47. The Chief was transported to the hospital but died shortly after arrival.

The back-to-back shootings have left many locals shaken.

Although police have not confirmed a link between the two incidents, the proximity in time and location has caused concern among community members and leaders alike.

Security presence has been visibly increased in Asawase, but anxiety remains high.

The Ashanti Regional Police Command has yet to release an official statement on the latest incident. Investigations into both cases are ongoing.
