Asante Kotoko cancel Dubai tour for pre-season

Ghana Premiership side Asante Kotoko has cancelled a proposed pre-season tour of Dubai due to the Coronavirus pandemic increase.

The Porcupine Warriors had planned a trip to the Gulf state to finalise their preparations for the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League season which starts in November.

“Looking at the Covid situation in Dubai, it’s a bit scary which we don’t want to endanger the health of our players. Another country management was looking at was Turkey,”  the club’s Spokesperson, Moses Antwi Benefo disclosed.

According to him, the team will continue the pre-season at their current based Koforidus, and expected to move to Accra for few days then to Kumasi to wrap it up.

Asante Kotoko has signed eight players – Latif Anabila, Yusif Mubarik, Patrick Asmah, Evans Adomako, Razak Abalora, Emmanuel Keyekeh, Andrews Kwadwo Appau, with the latest being a Brazilian international Fabio Gama.

The Kumasi based team will also represent Ghana at the upcoming CAF Champions League competition.
