A BBC Africa Eye investigation has revealed that some staff in Ghana’s hospitals have been selling vital personal protective equipment (PPE) for personal profit.

More than 2,000 medical workers have been infected by the coronavirus.

The country has faced a severe lack of essential protective equipment like face shields, masks and suits.

One hospital pharmacy worker was filmed selling hundreds of dollars’ worth of gowns and face shields.

The Greater Accra Regional Hospital says that following an internal investigation, he was suspended.
