We always hear about the honeymoon phase. You know the phase at the beginning of a relationship where you’re getting to know each other. Everything is going good and lovey-dovey. Does the honeymoon phase “end”?
I mean, I know newly married couples also usually go on a honeymoon after. Does the spark have to go away after?
Studies have shown that married couples who go on spontaneous dates have a higher chance of staying married. If you didn’t think about a date idea after hearing that, then what are you waiting for? Timing can be a little tricky, huh. Spending time as a family does sound cute, but how about alone time for you and your lover? Here are a couple of things you can do all year round or in time for the season.
1. Movie Night
Go to the store and each throw a couple of snacks in the basket. You can decide to watch a movie either in a movie theater or at home. Try watching a new film that neither of you has seen before. You can also rewatch a movie or have each other suggest one that the other has never seen before, each time. The debrief after will be good. You can discuss your favorite or least favorite parts.
2. Food Dates
It seems simple enough; one of you probably cooks every day. Wrong. Take time to venture out of the house when possible and treat each other to a meal at a restaurant. Try new restaurants or go to your favorite spots. Having a picnic with either meals you cooked or picked up in front of a view or a quiet, intimate spot would be better than being inside again.
3. Fun Activities
With fall being here and Halloween around the corner, find fun things to do. Want to go in for a night full of screams? Visit a haunted house. Visit a pumpkin patch and enjoy the activities available on-site. Pick out a pumpkin and paint it. Make it competitive; see whose pumpkin ends up being the best. Don’t be scared to ask around. The good thing is you can paint all year round! Go into Halloween stores and try on a couple of costumes for each.
The “honeymoon phase” shouldn’t just be a phase. You can keep the spark alive by continuing to go on spontaneous dates or starting new ones. It’s nice to stray away from the usual everyday routine and have fun. Hopefully, these ideas will help you think about your next date.
