Prosecutors plead for time in Immigration Officer murder case

Prosecutors handling the case of murdered immigration officer Steffen King Amoah have asked the Adabraka District Court for more time as they await a final forensic report.

The document is expected to clarify the cause of death and will be forwarded to the Attorney-General’s office for further legal advice.

The case has been in court for over two months, and frustrations are mounting among the victim’s family, who feel that the pace of proceedings is too slow.

Steffen Amoah, 38, was reported missing on July 3, 2025, after leaving home to meet a friend at Ashongman Estate.

His burned body was discovered six days later at Abuom Junction near Kwabenya, leading to the arrest of two suspects.

Bright Aweh and Thomas Zigah are currently facing charges of murder and conspiracy to commit a crime. Their pleas have not yet been taken.

In court on Thursday, October 9, prosecutors informed the judge that investigations were largely complete, but they needed the final forensic analysis before moving forward.

The defence for one of the accused agreed but urged the court to ensure timelines are followed more strictly.

Presiding judge Abena Asor Owusu Omenyo set the next hearing for October 22.

Speaking after the hearing, the victim’s elder sister expressed her disappointment.

“If they can’t adjudicate the matter at the district court, they should just escalate it to the higher courts,” she said. “These everyday postponements are worrying and disheartening for us.”

Family members say they are determined to keep pushing for justice and want the process to move faster.
