Police in the North East Region have arrested 46-year-old Nana Amadu at Gbintiri near Nalerigu for possessing restricted and narcotic drugs without lawful authority.
The arrest followed an intelligence-led operation carried out on Friday, September 12, 2025. During a search at the suspect’s residence, officers retrieved the following items:
* Seven compressed parcels of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp
* 506 wrappers of a substance believed to be Indian hemp
* Three boxes of brown paper wrappers of Oris Cigarettes
* Three boxes of Oris Cigarettes
* Three packs of Vergra 50mg drug
* Seventy-three cigarette lighters
* Two bundles of rubber wrappers
The suspect admitted ownership of the items during police interrogation and is currently under investigation. He will be arraigned before the court after the investigation is completed.
The Police are cautioning the public, especially individuals involved in the sale and use of narcotic drugs, to desist from such illegal activities.
