For the second straight final in a tennis major in 2025, American player Amanda Anisimova has ended up on the losing side.

Following her embarrassing loss to Iga Swiatek at this year’s Wimbledon, Anisimova lost to Aryna Sabalenka in the US Open Women’s Final in New York City.

Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) world number one Sabalenka clinched the title via a 6-3, 7-6 (7-3) win over Anisimova. The title is Sabalenka’s second US Open triumph and her fourth tennis major win in her career.

Unlike her previous final appearance where she was completely dominated by Swiatek, Anisimova played well but still felt short and was quite emotional in her post-game speech.

“It’s been a great summer. Losing two finals in a row is great but also super hard. I didn’t fight hard enough for my dreams today” Anismova said as quoted by the BBC.

On the other hand, Sabalenka confessed that she almost let emotions that haunted her in her finals’ loss at the Australian Open and French Open get the better of her again.

“After two finals where I completely lost control of my emotions, I didn’t want to let that to happen again. There were some moments where I was close to letting it go, but I kept calm” she said to ESPN.
