The ECOWAS Queen Mother and leader of the Ghanaian community in Côte d’Ivoire, Nana Kyeremaa Abrefi Koto, is calling on the public to help find the parents of a 12-year-old Ghanaian girl named Adwoa, who was recently found alone in Abidjan.

Adwoa shared that her mother is Abena Nyankomago from Ankanfo and currently lives in Mankessim. Her father, Bra Kofi, is a television repairer also based in Mankessim in Ghana’s Central Region.

The young girl explained that she was approached by a woman who claimed to be sent by her mother. The woman promised to take her to Abidjan for education.

But after arriving in Côte d’Ivoire, things took a dark turn. Adwoa said the woman began mistreating her, leading her to run away after enduring months of abuse.

Fortunately, after fleeing, she encountered a kind woman who offered her water and, upon hearing her story, took her to the nearest police station.

The authorities documented her case, took her photo, and arranged for her to have a safe place to stay for the night.

The next day, the police contacted Nana Kyeremaa Abrefi Koto to help with the case. While attempts have been made to trace the woman who allegedly brought Adwoa to Abidjan, they have so far yielded no results.

The Queen Mother is appealing to anyone with information about Adwoa’s family to come forward and assist in reuniting her with her loved ones.
