The Kaneshie District Court has postponed the case involving the tragic death of Immigration Officer Stephen King Amoah to August 8, 2025.
The hearing was rescheduled during a court session on Thursday, July 24, while police continue their investigation.
The case, initially handled by the Kwabenya Circuit Court, was transferred due to its reclassification from a kidnapping to a murder case.
Amoah, aged 38, was reported missing on July 3 after telling his wife he was meeting a friend at Ashongman Estate. Days later, his burnt body was discovered in a gutter near the GBC Satellite area in Accra.
The suspect, Bright Aweh, believed to be the last person Amoah met before his disappearance, remains in custody.
During interrogation, Aweh claimed he had given GHS500,000 to Amoah, partly to settle a GHS200,000 debt. He reportedly failed to explain where the rest of the money came from and gave conflicting statements.
Amoah’s wife grew concerned after receiving a message from his phone saying he had returned home safely with the money. But when his brother went to check, the house was empty, and Amoah’s phone was off.
Family members identified Amoah’s body at the Police Hospital morgue despite severe burns. They continue to call for public support and transparency as the investigation unfolds.
Police are urging anyone with information to contact them at 18555, 192, or report to the nearest station.
