Ayawaso North Municipal Schools showcase brilliant STEM projects

The Science Unit of the Ayawaso North Municipal Education Office organized a STEM Fair at St. Francis Xavier School in Mamobi, Accra, aimed at encouraging creativity and innovation in science education.

Under the leadership of Director Emmanuel Kofi Techie, the fair focused on three main areas: food security, education, and environmental pollution.

Participants were selected from both public and private schools within the municipality, each showcasing their projects on well-arranged tables.

The schools that participated included: Ayawaso North Municipal Model School, St. Francis Xavier R/C Basic School, Ibaadullahi Preparatory and JHS, Darul Hijra Islamic School, Kotobabi ’13’ JHS, and Ayebeng Memorial Primary & JHS.

The event brought together officers from the Ayawaso North Municipal Education Office, including Mr. Daniel Nsiah (Deputy Director of Monitoring & Supervision), Mr. Eric Deh (Guidance and Counseling Coordinator), Mr. Odonkor, Mr. Opoku-Jackson Nana Kwame (Science Illustrator – Potter’s Pattern), Madam Ekua Aframa Odoom (SISO), Rev. Gideon Pappoe (STMIE), Mr. Obroni Sefah, and Mr. Eric Twumasi.

The projects presented by the students included electrical works, agricultural processing factories made from cardboard, and chimney filtration systems created using PVC pipes, among others.

Director of Education for Ayawaso North Municipal Assembly, Mr. Emmanuel Kofi Techie, commended the learners for their creativity and hard work. He encouraged teachers to incorporate more practical experiences into their science lessons.

Rev. Gideon Pappoe, the STMIE Coordinator of the Municipal Assembly, closed the event by applauding the participants and urging facilitators to provide more project opportunities for students. He emphasized the importance of STEM projects, describing them as a fantastic way to ignite curiosity, develop problem-solving skills, and make learning enjoyable.
