On Tuesday, July 1, 2025, Republic Day will be celebrated.
Following the government’s decision to move all midweek holidays that fall on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday to the nearest Friday, the Ministry of the Interior has announced that the President has declared Friday, July 4, 2025, as a public holiday.
This decision aligns with the observance of Republic Day on July 1.
”The general public is hereby informed that Tuesday, 1st July 2025, is Republic Day.”
“However, His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Ghana, by Executive Instrument (E.I.), in accordance with Section 2 of the Public Holidays and Commemorative Days Act, 2021 (Act 601) has declared Friday J4th July, 2025 as a public holiday,” a statement issued by the ministry on Thursday night stated.
The release, signed by Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, urged the general public to observe the holiday nationwide.
This decision effectively creates a long weekend for many Ghanaians, as the holiday falls on a Friday.
