We’re tired of press conferences; take action – KSM tells OSP, A-G

Comedian and social commentator Kwaku Sintim-Misa, better known as KSM, has urged the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) and Attorney-General to take action against corruption-related offences and avoid the litany of press conferences that have produced no tangible outcomes.

In a video uploaded to his YouTube channel on June 16, he lamented the level of embezzlement and looting in several key government agencies during the period when the nation was in debt and required IMF assistance.

He asserted that if such funds are retrieved, it could aid in settling the debts of the nation.

“The numbers that are being looted are staggering. It’s sad. If you think about the fact that we had to go to the IMF to beg. Yet people were looting.

“If we can recover the loot, all these taxes would have been needless,” he said.

KSM stressed that anti-corruption agencies must move from talk to action, stating that Ghanaians are tired of the press conferences.

“So, to the OSP and the AG. Let’s see something. We can’t allow the steam to be lost; put more fire under the pot.

“Every time the OSP is organising press conferences, we are tired. Start moving. Unless he doesn’t have evidence. If he has evidence, chase them. Recover the money. Don’t show any mercy to any criminal,” he said.

He urged authorities to intensify investigations under the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) initiative, stating, “No more talk, start recovering stolen funds!”

Several alleged corruption-related cases have come up recently, including the NSS ‘Ghost names’ scandal, where over GHC548 million is believed to have been lost due to corruption.

In the Adu-Boahen case, the Attorney-General says GHC49.1 million state funds have allegedly been diverted into personal accounts of the former National Signals Bureau boss, Kwabena Adu-Boahen.

The Attorney-General is still investigating these cases for prosecution to take place.
